Aston Merrygold (born 23 July 1991) is an English singer, songwriter and dancer. He was a member of the band JLS until their split in 2013. Aston also has his own solo music career with one album to date: “Heartstrings” which reached number five on the UK Albums Chart.
Aston’s musical career began when he auditioned for The X Factor in 2008. In 2009, Aston got to the ‘boot camp’ stage of the competition but was eliminated by Cheryl Cole and Tony Bennett. He later received a call back from Simon Cowell’s team and joined JLS who went on to become one of Britain’s most successful boy bands.
After rejoining with his former bandmates as part of their reunion tour in 2013, Aston announced that he would be leaving due to contractual obligations on other projects. It has been reported that since this announcement, Aston is considering launching a solo music career under Syco Music—the company responsible for managing One Direction.
