Biography Of William Regal
William James (Bill) Regal was born in Blackpool, Lancashire. He is an English professional wrestler and sports entertainer who has wrestled for many different wrestling promotions including WWE, WCW, ECW, TNA, and NWA. Â Currently he works as the General Manager of NXT on the WWE Network show NXT. Â In his time with these companies Regal has won thirty-five championships between those organizations and other independent wrestling associations such as WAWF Canada or IWF Hollywood’s Extreme Championship Wrestling Heavyweight Championship.
Regal started out working at a YMCA before breaking into pro wrestling around 1986 where he met Paul Heyman when they both worked for Jim Crockett Promotions which later became WCW.
He is the only wrestler to have a match named after them on WWE programming when he wrestled ‘Flyin’ Brian Pillman in 1996 for Monday Night RAW and has been inducted into both the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame, Class of 2013, as well as The George Tragos/Lou Thesz Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame class of 2008.
In recent years Regal has been involved with NXT where his role was originally that of a coach and mentor until he became General Manager (GM) in 2016 Â He also served under this capacity at TNA from 2015-2016.
